Flood Watch issued May 14 at 4:20AM HST until May 17 at 8:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI ...Flood Watch for the entire State of Hawaii Wednesday through at least Friday... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...All the main Hawaiian islands. * WHEN...From Wednesday morning through Friday evening. * IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A kona low developing north of the state will bring the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms over portions of the state from Wednesday through Friday and possibly continuing through the weekend. The highest chances for excessive rainfall appear to be over Oahu and Maui county later Wednesday and Wednesday night, then slowly shift westward, with the focus mainly on Kauai by later Friday. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Remember that it does not have to be raining at your location for flash flooding to occur. If you notice signs of heavy rain or thunderstorms upslope, move quickly away from flood prone areas.

Flood Advisory issued May 14 at 7:49AM HST until May 14 at 11:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...The island of Oahu in Honolulu County. * WHEN...Until 1100 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 747 AM HST, radar indicated moderate to locally heavy rain showers about to move over the island from the south. Rain rates of 1 inch per hour was observed but rates of up to 2 inch per hour will be possible as the band of showers move onshore. Additional showers will be possible throughout the day. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Honolulu, Waipio, Moanalua, Kalihi, Salt Lake, Halawa, Aiea, Pearl City, Manoa, Ahuimanu, Iroquois Point, Kaneohe, Kahaluu, Palolo, Maunawili, Waiahole, Waipahu, Waikele, Ewa Beach and Kailua. Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
