Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued May 19 at 6:25PM CDT until May 19 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 260 REMAINS VALID UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 7 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL KANSAS DICKINSON IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS GEARY MORRIS IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS CLAY CLOUD OTTAWA IN NORTHEAST KANSAS RILEY THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ABILENE, BENNINGTON, CLAY CENTER, CONCORDIA, COUNCIL GROVE, HERINGTON, JUNCTION CITY, MANHATTAN, AND MINNEAPOLIS.

Flood Advisory issued May 19 at 7:27PM CDT until May 19 at 10:30PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Kansas, including the following county, Dickinson. * WHEN...Until 1030 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 727 PM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in the advisory area due to thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Abilene, Chapman, Enterprise and Moonlight. - This includes Interstate 70 between mile markers 272 and 289. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
