Flood Advisory issued May 14 at 3:33AM CDT until May 14 at 5:00AM CDT by NWS Paducah KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Missouri, including the following counties, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau. * WHEN...Until 500 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 332 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Lick Log Creek, Perkins Creek, Foster Creek, Gimlet Creek, Virgin Creek, Byrd Creek, Grassy Creek, Helderman Creek, Hog Creek, Little Whitewater Creek, Granny Creek, Malone Creek, Cedar Branch, Talley Branch, Castor River Diversion Channel, Turkey Creek, Bear Creek, Panther Creek, Cane Creek, Castor River, Hurricane Creek, Dillard Creek, Drunken Creek, Little Crooked Creek, Crooked Creek, Chicken Branch, Sunny Brook and Whitewater River. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marble Hill, Bollinger Mill State Historic Site, Leopold, Grassy, Burfordville, Whitewater, Zalma and Glenallen. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
