Special Weather Statement issued May 8 at 4:57PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC At 457 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9 miles southwest of Union, or near Rose Hill State Park, moving southeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Union, Clinton, Monarch Mill, Joanna, Rose Hill State Park, Buffalo, Kinards, Tuckertown, Cross Keys, and Cross Anchor. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM EDT for Upstate South Carolina.
