For ALPINE AREAS above 1900 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h are occurring and are likely to persist throughout Thursday. Peak gusts in excess of 125 km/h are possible this evening and early Thursday, before easing Thursday before dawn. For SNOWY MOUNTAINS above 1700 metres: BLIZZARD conditions are forecast during Thursday. For the SNOWY MOUNTAINS and BRINDABELLAS above 1200 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 110 km/h are likely this evening and persist for several hours. From early Thursday morning winds are expected to decrease to 50 to 60 km/h with gusts around 90 km/h in the Snowy Mountains, but ease over the Brindabellas. Locations which may be affected include Mount Ginini, Thredbo, Tidbinbilla and Perisher Valley. Winds averaging 92 km/h were observed at Thredbo around 9:27 pm. Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and showers and northwesterly winds are expected during Wednesday and Thursday. Areas likely to be affected include the Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts and parts of the Central West Slopes & Plains and Riverina forecast districts.
