Special Weather Statement issued June 20 at 2:07PM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ At 206 PM MST, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located 7 miles northwest of Kearny, or 12 miles southeast of Superior, moving north at 25 mph. Conditions are becoming more favorable for the development of additional thunderstorms. Some storms may become strong to severe. Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible. Locations impacted include... Globe, Superior, Hayden, Christmas, Roosevelt, San Carlos, Miami, Cutter, Hilltop, Roosevelt Dam, Top-Of-The-World, Sawmill, Queen Valley, Central Heights-Midland City, Tonto National Monument, Four Peaks, Apache Lake, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, Top Of The World, and Punkin Center. This includes the following highways... US Highway 60 between mile markers 214 and 298. AZ Route 70 between mile markers 253 and 271. AZ Route 77 between mile markers 135 and 141, and between mile markers 143 and 170. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
